Project Officer
12-month Parental leave contract - part time 3 days per week
  • Part time role, three days a week, days and hours worked across week negotiable

Benefits

On offer is a parental leave backfill 12-month contract role, 3 days per week, with the days and spread of hours over the working week open to discussion. The role is competitively remunerated and offers access to not-for-profit salary sacrificing up to $18,500 per annum. Due to strong organisational growth, there could possibly be potential for longer-term opportunities that arise during the contract term. 

 

The position could be located in Wollongong, NSW, or surrounding areas and the successful candidate will have the option to work from home with willingness and ability to travel to the Wollongong office regularly as well as work remotely from home.

About the Role

The Project Officer will assist the Senior Manager, Projects and Governance and the Project Manager, in the successful delivery of various RCA Projects and Project Governance. This role involves working closely with the Senior Manager, Projects and Governance, the Project Manager, as well as other RCA team members, to ensure the successful delivery of key projects and initiatives. The Project Officer will contribute to the smooth execution of projects by coordinating activities, managing timelines, and ensuring compliance with organisational and stakeholder requirements.

 

The role will be responsible for the following:

 

Project Coordination:

  • Support the development and management of project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Senior Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and issues and assist in implementing mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, healthcare professionals, community organisations, and funding partners.
  • Coordinate and attend stakeholder meetings, workshops, and focus groups.
  • Act as a key point of contact for project inquiries and communications.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, and final reports in line with organisational and funding body requirements.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant policies and regulations.

Resource Development & Support:

  • Assist in the creation of project-related materials, including presentations, reports, and communications.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop resources for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals as needed.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support for project activities, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and tracking project deliverables.
  • Maintain project records and files to ensure accurate and accessible documentation.

 

About You

We are seeking a highly accomplished and experienced Project Officer who is passionate about the organisation's mission and committed to positively supporting people with rare and less common cancers.

 

You will have a positive attitude and approach that reflect RCA’s missions and values. You will be enthusiastic, energetic, and highly motivated.

 

With highly effective organisational skills, you will be proactive and able to look ahead to pre-empt upcoming needs and assistance, manage upwards, and provide superior administrative support and assistance to deliver exceptional results. Ideal candidates will have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in project management, public health, healthcare, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in coordinating or supporting projects, preferably within the healthcare or not-for-profit sectors.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare system, particularly as it relates to cancers and experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and healthcare providers will be highly regarded.
